Twenty-eighteen has been a year to remember. I have spent the year ticking destinations and experiences off my bucket list and finally started my own travel blog (something I had wanted to do for ages). Looking back on the past year, it has been pretty amazing, so I thought I’d write a reflective post on my favourite memories from this year’s travels.
Spending a weekend in the Southern Californian desert and listening to incredible music had been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. Coachella was everything I could’ve wanted and more. Every part of this trip was just incredible, from driving through the Valley in our Mustang, watching Destiny’s Child perform and partying in Palm Springs. We loved it so much, we have already planned our return in 2019 (so watch out for some more Coachella spam).
Renting a speedboat in Bellagio to explore Lake Como was the best decision we made on that trip. Lake Como was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever experienced. I’d recommend bringing a picnic with you on the boat, so you can pop some prosecco and eat gorgeous Italian food whilst you soak in the sun. I loved our Italian weekends in 2018 and I hope we can explore even more beautiful places in Italy in the future.
Spending a long weekend in the South of France has been a fantasy of mine for a while. So when we travelled to Monaco this Summer, we wanted to make the most of what it had to offer. We spent our days at pool parties and beach clubs drinking rosé – my idea of heaven. This was the perfect summer weekend getaway. Saint-Tropez is next on the list…
This year, Max and I visited Disney World and every moment of it was pure magic. We loved every second, from walking in to Cinderella’s castle, to the spectacular firework displays and meeting the Disney characters. Disney is the best place on Earth! I’ll be back in June for some more Disney fun (so look out for more Mickey ears pictures).
I had the best trip to Antigua with the entire family. We drank pina colada’s and frozen margaritas on the beach, sailed round the island and watched the sun set from the best spot on the island. This week was pure bliss. Sometimes a relaxing week in the Caribbean is exactly what you need!
The food in Rome did not disappoint. We tried all of the must-have pasta dishes, gelato and cheese and drank beautiful wine all weekend long. This was the ultimate foodie trip. Rome has a lot more to offer than just great food, there’s culture and history around every corner. I’d recommend this city to everyone!
I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and rode a horse (for the first time) up the Hollywood hills to see the Hollywood sign. This was an incredible experience and such a unique way to see the city from above. Los Angeles is one of my favourite destinations and we are returning for a week next year (yay!!!).
We got a boat from Cancun to a near-by island, Isla Mujeres for a relaxing day in the sun. First things first, we got ourselves some daiquiris from the beach bar and sat down on the soft, white, sand to watch the world go by. Mexico is such a beautiful country, the perfect beach holiday destination.
This year, I returned to my all time favourite restaurant, Nobu Malibu. The sun was beaming down and we had the best spot in the restaurant to eat our sushi and watch for wild dolphins. Malibu is a beautiful place and I can’t wait to spend more time there next year.
The best way to explore South Beach is definitely on a bike! The entire area has been designed for people on bikes, making it so easy and fun for everyone. Most hotels located in Miami Beach offer complimentary bike rental for guests. As we were staying in the Miami Beach Edition (located in the mid-beach area) we were a bit further out this time, but the bike gave us a quick and easy option to get to Ocean Drive within minutes. It’s also a great way to check out all of the hotels along South Beach!
My love for travel is continually growing, so expect even more trips, reviews and destination guides. I have a few trips booked already but lots more than need planning, so if you guys have any travel recommendations please comment below.
What have been your travel highlights from this year?
