We were in London for the world premiere of Stan & Ollie, a cinematic masterpiece that will hit cinemas in January 2019. With a jam-packed day full of parties and celebrations in London we stayed in the Mondrian London at Sea Containers for the night. I have visited this hotel a few times before and love it more every time I go, so I was over the moon to be staying here.
The Mondrian is idyllically located on the banks of the River Thames in the iconic Sea Containers building. The entire hotel has been expertly designed under the creative direction of British designer Tom Dixon, keeping the buildings history at the forefront. From the moment you step in to the lobby, you’re greeted by an enormous copper wall inspired by 1920s cruise ship glamour and the signature scent of Morgans Hotel Group which I’m totally obsessed with. Luckily, the scent is available to purchase from the mini bar selection in the rooms.
When arriving, we loved the fun atmosphere and upbeat music being played throughout the hotel. We instantly knew we were in for an amazing stay!
The Sea Containers restaurant located on the ground floor offers a delicious menu throughout the day and an amazing weekend brunch. The bottomless prosecco can get slightly out of hand though…
The Dandelyan bar serves innovative cocktails and afternoon tea in a serene setting. We visited this bar for some pre-drinks before the premiere, looking slightly overdressed.
If you want to find the best views from the hotel visit the rooftop bar, Rumpus Room, on the 12th floor. A beautiful spot with sweeping views of the Thames.
Also, there’s a luxurious spa in the hotel for guests to enjoy. The Agua Spa offers a full range of treatments that have been handpicked by a team of experts and the Glamour Room has a range of pampering beauty treatments to make you feel utterly fabulous.
The Curzon cinema within the Mondrian offers an intimate 56 seat screening room that’s open for hotel guests and the public Friday through to Sunday. They show new releases, family films and classics. They also offer an exclusive cinema menu to order your food whilst you enjoy the film.
There’s so much on offer at the hotel, you’ll find yourself never wanting to leave! However, if you do fancy venturing out, the Mondrian London is close to so many of London’s landmarks. The Tate Modern, Royal Festival Hall, the National and Globe theatres, in addition to Borough Market and the London Eye are all within walking distance. This hotel offers the perfect city stay!
All of the guest rooms are beautifully designed, with marble bathrooms, a fully stocked mini bar, large comfortable beds and stunning views.
The rooms feature quirky pops of colour, true to Tom Dixon’s style. The bedrooms take inspiration from luxury cabins you would find in transatlantic liners from the golden era of cruisers. From our room, you could see the iconic buildings in the City of London and the River Thames. We couldn’t have wished for a more beautiful view to wake up to.
There was great lighting and mirrors in the rooms, which is usually so hard to find in any hotel. It was the perfect hotel room to get red carpet ready!
We loved our stay at the Mondrian and can’t wait to return one day. The staff were attentive, the facilities were amazing and the hotel was full of life and character.
